Last year I attempted something I've never tried before: a mural! My friend Kevin runs a CrossFit gym, and he wanted something "graffiti-ish". I learned a lot working on this mural (like don't use blue chalk if you want your letters to be yellow...NOT easy to cover up!). I have to work on my graffiti letter-flow a little, but overall I'm happy with my first mural!

Lighter than air
A huge part of my caricature career has also been spent doing airbrush at events. Working for an entertainment company, one of the perks was learning how to use a cool art tool like an airbrush. It's fast, conducive to shading and fades, and it's fast. Oh, did I already say it's fast? Well, when you work a party or event, being fast is so important I might as well say it twice. All the examples below were done at an event or party, not retail, so I didn't have to much time to get anything finished (I consider myself lucky that I had time to snap a picture!). Almost all of these are on t-shirts, except Elmo who was done on a scarf.

To color, or not to color...
So I just thought I'd share a few recent black and white caricatures. Everyone seems to prefer color caricatures, but in this tough economy (I didn't make that up, EVERYONE'S been saying it) it's a smart idea to give people a more affordable B&W option. Plus it's still October, and everyone knows the best monster movies are B&W. For me, it's a truer test of caricature-likeness skills...you don't have all that color to fall back on! Anyhow, I like color caricatures AND I like B&W caricatures, and here's some of the latter.
